Clint Hansen

I am a 5th generation artist, born and raised in Iowa. Growing up, I watched my father and grandfather weld metal, transforming it into useful items. My great grandfather was the town blacksmith. There was nothing those men couldn’t imagine or create. As a kid, I drew up plans for a 3 wheeled recumbent bike before there was such a thing. Shared the dream with my grandfather and it wasn’t a month later we were riding it all over the neighborhood. My heritage is rich, my life is blessed.

It is hard to describe the pleasure in transforming a concept into artwork that speaks to others in a positive way. I welcome the creative challenge of sharing dreams and translating them through created artwork.

Artist Statement

The truth of a story lies in the details. As a full time artist for over 31 years, sharing a visual narrative with a few strokes of a brush or marks of a pencil has never failed to thrill me. The texture, colors, composition, and feel of each medium draws me in. The creative process is captivating. I love what I do. I am an Iowa artist, working for Fortune 500 companies nationwide with artwork in the permanent collections of both the U.S. Capitol and Iowa State University. I am the official portrait artist for the Washington Huskies Hall of Fame and have designed for the U.S. Mint.

REFERENCES

I am honored to have worked with Clint Hansen, a very talented and dedicated artist. We worked with Clint on my husband’s official portrait for the Budget Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives. This was an unusual project and while we had our pick of several nationally known portrait artists, we wanted an artist who was a native Iowan. We were not sure where to start. But we found Clint and the very complicated became easy. It also a fun coincidence and added benefit that he was of Danish heritage! Clint listened closely to us for our vision for the piece and consulted with us several times along the way. He was extremely professional, a dream to work with and ridiculously talented. We were thrilled with the portrait. We also have several other pieces of Clint’s hanging in our home, which I believe is the truest testament to his artistic talent. We are thankful to know him every day as we walk past and enjoy his art in our home. He would make an outstanding Artist Ambassador for the State of Iowa.
